The University of Mines is Russia’s oldest
higher education school devoted
to engineering. It was founded
on October 21 OS (November 1 NS) 1773
by Empress Catherine II. Thus the brainchild
of Peter the Great and Mikhail Lomonosov
to train Russian specialists
for mining was materialized.
The University has unique research
facilities. Research in the field of main
issues in developing country resource
portfolio, rational use of mineral
resources, development of advanced
mining and processing technologies
is carried out.
The University of Mines in Saint-Petersburg
is one of the exemplary higher
education institutions in Russia.
It is one of the educational leaders
both in Europe and in the world.
The number of students
is more than 16 500.
We educate students at 9 faculties
with 71 specializations,
46 of them are in bachelor’s degrees
and 17 are in master’s degrees.
