• The University of Mines is Russia’s oldest
    higher education school devoted
    to engineering. It was founded
    on October 21 OS (November 1 NS) 1773
    by Empress Catherine II. Thus the brainchild
    of Peter the Great and Mikhail Lomonosov
    to train Russian specialists
    for mining was materialized.

According to the ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds (London), a member of the Big Three, the National Mineral Resources University has reached a 101 place in the list of the QS World Top Universities of BRICS countries in 2015.

The Mining University and ZAO “GC “Titan” signed a cooperation agreement regarding the scientific and engineering support of the company projects. Vice-Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich took part in the ceremony.

The University held a meeting of the Programme Committee for preparation of the annual scientific conference of the Russian-German Resource Forum. It will be held in the University in October this year and it will gather the representatives of the scientific and industrial societies of both countries.

A group of graduate students of the Mining University had a field trip hosted by Freiberg Mining Academy (Germany). During the visit the University representatives went to a number of leading national companies in core industry and informed themselves about the research done by their German colleagues.
